“Someone’s in the Kitchen” —– with Karen!

Posted on Updated on

“Here are Pete (Fox River Legacy Oh For Pete’s Sake THDX RATCH CGC TKA) and Ernie (Fox River Importance of Being Ernest TKI) in their winning photo for National Purebred Dog Day’s annual photo contest. (nationalpurebreddogday.com) The contest has various themes and people take pictures of their dogs to illustrate the themes. This year, one of the themes was “Someone’s in the Kitchen.” Pete and Ernie are always willing helpers in the kitchen, especially if I’m baking dog treats. The prize was a nice paw-shaped cutting board from the AKC PAC, along with some other goodies they added, and lots of very nice comments from viewers of NPDD’s Facebook page.”

Thanks for sharing this delightful and tasty looking photo Karen!

Mya earns her TD – Tracking Dog Title!

Posted on Updated on

Sunday, May 1st, I got a very joyous message from Venita. Her little girl Mya, and she, were entered in their very first ever tracking test. Just getting into a test is a big deal. But Venita and Mya have been practicing and I just knew that they would do just fine. And they did! Look at Mya holding her glove! Here is Fox River Eyes Of My Heart TD, CGC. So very proud of this team

Here is Pete – Fox River Legacy Oh For Pete’s Sake RATCH, TGA, THDX, CGC – winning an Honorable Mention for the Hodges Badge Dog Show Catalog competition! Hodges makes these beautiful rosettes for competitions. The beautiful one around his neck was for earning his Barn Hunt Crazy 8. Pete has his RATCH – Barn Hunt Championship. Pete is the first Welsh Springer to earn this title in the United States. Super proud of Pete and his owner/handler Karen.

We have “Chocolate” puppies!

A long-time goal has been realized here at Fox River Spaniels. We’ve bred black, black and tan, red colored puppies, but never liver or liver and tan – all the solid colors English Cockers come in. Well, I can’t take credit for Quincy – a liver and tan. She was bred by Irmina at Kennel Modus Vivendi in Poland. I bred her to GCH CH Dicken’s Badger Bayham – Badger, a beautiful liver roan (parti-color) male. Two months later, January 10th, out popped six absolutely gorgeous solid liver puppies – 4 males and 2 females. All doing really well and Quincy has been the absolute best Mother you could hope for.

ALL THE PUPPIES ARE NOW SPOKEN FOR OR IN THEIR NEW HOMES.

Keep an eye on my webpage for future litter announcements.

Tilly – GCH, CGC and FDC

Well, Tilly was busy in November. Winnegamie Dog Club offered a Canine Good Citizen test on Saturday and a Farm Dog Certification test on Sunday. Tilly said that she could do both, and we did. She also competed in a Madison dog show later in November where she finished her Grand Championship in style. Her fancy name now is GCH CH Fox River Celtic Little Chute TKN WD CGC FDC.

Also that first weekend in November, my friend Annie Evarts, took pictures of her. If you ever want to get a good photo, she’s the right person for the job. Here is one of my favorites that Annie took of Tilly.

The second weekend in October, two of the Higgins x Tilly littermates entered the Hutchinson, MN dog show. Twelve year old Ben, new at handling, showed his darling Freya. Shawn with Vinny, took his first point. So very proud of both teams!
