GCH CH Fox River Higgs Boson JH WD CGC TKN
Higgins is out of our Violet (GCH CH Fox River Queen Anne’s Lace BN CD RE CGC) and Eero (CH Benton Ivy League UD RA MX AXJ MXP2 MJP). He was born on March 24, 2013 and was one of six in the “Irish” litter. Hence the Irish name Higgins. Tim thought of Higgs Boson when we were looking at registered names. Peter Higgs discovered the last piece in matter called a boson. So it stuck! To read more about Higgs Boson go to http://www.exploratorium.edu/origins/cern/ideas/higgs.html .
Higgins is a joy to live with – always a gentle soul, willing and biddable like his mother. He easily earned his breed championship and grand championship, going Reserve Winners Dog at the 2014 National Specialty, and Best of Breed and Sporting Group 4 at the November 2016 Heartland Supported Entry. Higgins needs one more point to earn his Bronze level. As of December 2015, Higgins was nationally ranked in the top 20 in the US. He loves to show, but loves hunting more.
He was started in the field as a young pup and excelled at finding and retrieving his bird. Fall of 2015 Andrea and Higgins entered their first hunt test. Well, Higgins earned the required four legs (you have to past the test four times) in four tries for his Junior Hunter title! We were thrilled as it doesn’t usually happen that way, but very happy it did.
Higgins is going through the required health tests now to see his suitability for breeding purposes. Go to the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals, put in his registered name, and it will bring up all of his clearances to date. http://www.offa.org is the link.
